Basement Protection Center

About Basement Protection Center

This site is created and maintained by JLB Foundation Repair and Basement Waterproofing, in partnership with The Nashville Business Foundry. Our goal is to help Midwest homeowners understand the structural and water issues that affect their homes. When you're ready for professional help, we're here — but the information on this site is designed to be useful whether you hire us or not.

Our Mission

Basement Protection Center exists for one reason: to give Midwest homeowners clear, honest information about the water and structural forces acting on their homes.

Too much of what's available online about basement waterproofing is written to sell a product or close a deal. We believe homeowners deserve to understand the science — hydrostatic pressure, soil behavior, water table dynamics — so they can make informed decisions about protecting their homes, whether they hire a contractor or not.

Who We Are

Basement Protection Center is backed by JLB Foundation Repair and Basement Waterproofing, a foundation repair and waterproofing contractor serving the Kansas City and Des Moines metro areas.

JLB works with homeowners every day who are dealing with cracked walls, wet basements, and failing drainage systems. That hands-on experience — seeing what actually happens to foundations in Midwest clay and glacial till — is the basis for everything published on this site.

Our Author

The content on Basement Protection Center is written by Patrick Smith, a researcher and writer who partnered with the professionals at JLB Foundation Repair. Patrick combines JLB's hands-on foundation and waterproofing experience with thorough research into soil science, water pressure data, and published engineering studies to create clear, accessible education for homeowners.

Our Editorial Standards

  • 1. Science first. Every claim links back to soil data, pressure calculations, or field observations — not marketing assumptions.
  • 2. No fear language. We explain conditions clearly without exaggerating urgency or severity.
  • 3. Full disclosure. This site is backed by a waterproofing contractor. We're transparent about that relationship on every page.
  • 4. No data collection. Our assessment tools don't require accounts and don't collect personal information.

Our Partner

This site was built in partnership with The Nashville Business Foundry, a digital agency that specializes in building authority websites for service businesses. Nashville Business Foundry handles the technical infrastructure, site architecture, and publishing platform so that our team can focus on creating accurate, useful content.

The partnership is straightforward: JLB provides the expertise and field knowledge, Nashville Business Foundry provides the digital platform, and the result is a resource built for homeowners — not search engines.
